Work backwards from the handover time. Tell us when the removalists finish, when cleaners are booked and when access to the property ends. The rubbish needs to be identified and accessible before the crew can quote and load it.
Before the move
Decide which belongings are going to the new address, being collected by someone else or being removed as rubbish. If a private sale or donation falls through, let us know that the load has changed. Do not leave that decision until the crew has priced a smaller collection.
On moving day
Keep the route clear of packed boxes and equipment. If both crews need a lift or loading area, arrange separate access windows where practical. Show us any remaining rubbish before the cleaners start working around it.
Before returning keys
Walk through the agreed rooms, balcony, garage and storage cage. Check that retained belongings have been collected and that the rubbish covered by the quote has gone. Keep any cleaning, repairs or other handover tasks on your own checklist; rubbish removal is one part of preparing the property.
What to send with an urgent pickup enquiry.
For an urgent job, call rather than relying only on a form message. Have the following details ready so the team can discuss a collection time that fits your deadline.
- Your suburb and deadline: say when the property must be accessible and when the keys go back.
- The full load: send wide photos of each pile and closer photos of bulky furniture. Mention items still in cupboards or storage.
- Building access: include the floor, stairs, lift booking, intercom, keys and loading entrance.
- Who can approve: arrange someone who knows what is being removed and can approve the on-site price.
- What belongs to the property: identify landlord-supplied furniture, fixed fittings and items that must stay.

If you still have time, an accepted council collection or a confirmed reuse pickup may suit some items. Check the current arrangements before placing rubbish outside. A crew pickup is useful when the deadline is close, the rubbish is indoors or you cannot handle the lifting yourself.

Set aside keys, documents, chargers, valuables and belongings that need to travel with you. Empty drawers and cupboards being removed, and label similar pieces clearly if only some are going.
Do not include asbestos or suspected asbestos, chemicals, oils, liquids, concrete, bricks, stone, pianos, safes or very heavy specialist items. Describe unusual renovation leftovers or fixed fittings when booking. Rubbish collection is not permission to remove another person's belongings; confirm what is authorised before the visit.
