A photo of a wardrobe helps, but it does not show a narrow staircase around the corner. Good access details let the crew plan how to carry the item safely and assess the work involved.
- Size and construction: give approximate height, width and depth for unusually large pieces. Mention solid timber, glass panels or a heavy top.
- Room and floor: say whether the item is downstairs, upstairs, in a basement or behind a separate storage entrance.
- Doorways and turns: send a photo of the narrowest opening and any tight stair landing. Mention if the item was assembled inside the room.
- Lift access: check the lift opening and internal space, along with building bookings or protective-cover requirements.
- Truck access: describe gates, driveway slopes, loading bays, parking restrictions and the carry to the street.
Does it need to come apart?
Tell us if a bed frame, desk or wardrobe needs dismantling to leave the room. The team can assess standard dismantling with the job and include agreed work in the quote. Do not force a large piece through a doorway or dismantle something unstable just to prepare for collection.
This is a crew-loading service. Items requiring a crane, specialist hoist or structural changes need a different removal plan.
Prepare the space without moving the heavy pieces.
Empty drawers and cupboards, remove retained belongings and identify exactly which pieces are going. Keep small loose items together where practical. Tell the team about damaged furniture, loose glass or unstable shelves rather than hiding them in the load.
Clear bags and everyday belongings from the carrying route. Arrange keys, lift access and an authorised person who can show the items and approve the price. If furniture belongs to a landlord or another occupant, confirm what is authorised for removal.
Leave heavy items in place. Carrying a mattress down stairs or moving a tall cupboard yourself can create more work and risk than simply showing the crew where it is.
Booking around a delivery or move
If replacement furniture is arriving, explain the delivery date and the space that needs clearing. For a rental handover, include the time access ends. Call for urgent collection rather than leaving a deadline only in a form message.
Price depends on the items and the work to remove them.

Item count alone does not tell the full story. Two light chairs, two large wardrobes and a couch with a mattress take different truck space and handling. Stairs, a long carry and dismantling can also change the work involved.
Show everything you want included before accepting the quote. If you add a second room or extra garage rubbish, confirm the changed scope and price before those items are loaded.

Check your council's current accepted-item list, booking arrangements and presentation instructions. Services differ by address. Do not assume an indoor pickup or a date that matches your move.
If you need the lifting handled

We do not take asbestos, chemicals, oils, liquids, concrete, bricks, stone, pianos, safes or very heavy specialist items. A large household piece is not automatically suitable just because it fits on a truck. Describe unusual weight, fixed fittings or specialist equipment before booking.
